Georgian defense minister's plane comes under fire in Iraq

TBILISI. Jan 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The plane of Georgian Defense Minister David Tevzadze came under fire minutes after takeoff in Baghdad Thursday night.

Upon his return to Tbilisi Tevzadze told reporters that he had heard nothing as he was sleeping. "I learned about the incidents later from the pilots who said the plane could have been shot down," he said.

Tevzadze flew to Iraq Wednesday evening to meet the Georgian peacekeeping contingent.
