NEW DELHI. Jan 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Indian Defense Minister George Fernandes called today's contract signing on the delivery of Russia's aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov a landmark event.
"My Russian counterpart Sergei Ivanov and I today attended the signing of the contract on the delivery of the aircraft- carrying cruiser Admiral Gorshkov. The signing of this contract is a milestone event for India," Fernandes told journalists in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The Indian defense minister welcomed his recent talks with Ivanov, adding that the two countries' military-technical cooperation has been successful.
"Today's visit by the Russian defense minister to India is an important milestone in the development of the two countries' relations," he said.
Commenting on other promising projects for Russia and India, Fernandes mentioned the BraMos missile, the Su-30-MKI Flanker fighter and the T- 90 tank.
