Russian war pilots to go to taiga for survival course

MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax-AVN) - A team of Russian war pilots will be sent to the taiga for a survival course, Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky, chief of the Air Force press service, told Interfax-Military News Agency Thursday.

A 18-day training course for Air Force S&R and air-land operations officers will be held in the Khabarovsk territory at the 126th pilot survival special center.

According to Drobyshevsky, the course is aimed at checking pilots' skills in the usage of rescue and survival assets. At the last stage of the exercise the trainees will be dropped somewhere in the taiga for a week-long survival course, he said.

The training course will involve over 50 men, six aircraft, and eight land vehicles. It will include more than 2,500 parachute jumps.
