MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia intends to develop military-technical cooperation with Brazil and promote the sale of Russian arms and military equipment, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Boris Alyoshin told Interfax.
"We are interested in supplying Sukhoi planes to Brazil and have good chances to win Brazil's tender for the purchase of military planes," Alyoshin said.
Alyoshin believes that if Russia wins the tender in Brazil, "this will stimulate the sale of other technology and high-tech equipment."
He did not rule out the possibility the two countries could begin developing military technology in the future.
Alyoshin will visit Brazil on February 18-20 to attend a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation. Prospects for military-technical cooperation will be one of the issues discussed, he said.
