Far Eastern law-enforcers searching for suspected murderers of Interior Ministry Force servicemen

MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Law-enforcers are searching for two servicemen of the Interior Ministry Force who are suspected of murdering two fellow soldiers in the town of Birobidzhan in the Jewish autonomous region, chief of the Interior Ministry Force's press service Colonel Vasily Panchenkov said on Tuesday.

"Two servicemen got stab wounds and died as a result of a quarrel in a unit of the Interior Ministry Force stationed in the city of Birobidzhan. The incident occurred at about 2:00 a.m. on January 27. Suspected murderers of the two servicemen left their unit without authorization and are being searched for by law- enforcement agencies," Panchenkov told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The search involves the criminal investigation department of the Birobidzhan city police, other policemen, and servicemen of the unit where the murder occurred, he said.

"Local television is broadcasting an address to the population that describes suspects' features, their photos have been circulated around the city," Panchenkov went on. Lieutenant General Yuri Kotov, commander of the Interior Ministry Force's Eastern district, supervises the search.

"Causes of the incident will be made public after the suspects are detained and the investigation is complete," Panchenkov said. According to him, the search is progressing slowly at the moment, because it is already dark in Birobidzhan.
