Russian chief-of-staff heading inspection to Volga-Ural Military District

SAMARA. Jan 28 (Interfax-AVN) - An inspection team headed by Russian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Anatoly Kvashnin arrived at the Volga-Ural Military District on Wednesday, a competent source in the team told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The four-day tour of the inspection team headed by Army General Kvashnin is aimed at inspecting some units of the Volga- Ural Military District, as well as evaluating routine combat training and readiness to a strategic command post exercise (CPX) in the Armed Forces, bound for mid-February," the source said.

He said that the team involves high-ranking officers from the General Staff, Land Forces Command, and other central bodies of the Defense Ministry, including Land Forces Commander Nikolai Kormiltsev, chief of the General Staff Operative Directorate Colonel General Alexander Rukshin, chief of the General Staff Mobilization Directorate Colonel General Vasily Smirnov, chief of the Defense Ministry Personnel Support Directorate Colonel General Nikolai Reznik, and other top ranks.

According to the source, the team will go to Samara, Yekaterinburg, and St. Petersburg to hear the reports of the Volga-Ural and Leningrad Military Districts on the readiness to the strategic CPX.

"The strategic CPX will include some training launches of land-, sea-, and air-based missiles," the source also said.
