RYBINSK, Yaroslavl Region. Jan 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The Saturn research and production association has the necessary potential to quickly master production of the ground-based variety of the PS-90 engine for gas giant Gazprom, Saturn Director General Yuri Lastochkin told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"A Gazprom delegation led by Boris Budzulyak, chief of the gas transportation, underground storage and use department, has recently visited the Saturn research and production association. The talks addressed mastering of production of the ground-based variety of the PS-90 engine at Saturn. Saturn said it has research, technical and intellectual potential that is required to master the production quickly," Lastochkin told Interfax- Military News Agency.
Saturn's statement was included in the protocol of the joint conference, he said.
In addition, the Gazprom delegation confirmed the volume of orders for 2004 placed with Saturn, the association's press service said. According to it, this volume amounts to about RUB1.5bn (USD52.64m). Gazprom officials attended control factory tests of a gas-turbine power plant developing 2.5mW which is intended for the Pestsovo gas field, Russia's second largest one.
Saturn is one of Russia's flagship developers and manufacturers of aircraft and commercial gas turbines. Its main workstreams include developing and manufacturing power plants for combat and civil aircraft, including a power plant for the fifth- generation fighter, as well as designing gas turbines and power plants for Gazprom, Unified Energy Systems of Russia, and other customers.
