EU's Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone plan set for mid-Feb

TBILISI. Feb 2 (Interfax-AVN) - Implementation of a EUR2.5m EU program for rehabilitating the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone will start in mid-February.

The program will be launched "when the relevant protocol, which was signed in Tskhinvali on Saturday, comes into force after a number of additional documents are signed," acting Georgian Minister without Portfolio Malkhaz Kakabadze told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.

The protocol was signed by representatives of Georgia, South Ossetia, Russia, North Ossetia-Alania, the OSCE, and the EU.

"A number of additional protocols between the OSCE, the European Commission, and the UN Development Program, which will detail mechanisms for the project's implementation, should be signed within ten days," Kakabadze said.
