YEKATERINBURG. Feb 3 (Interfax-AVN) - A command post exercise started in the Volga-Ural military district on Tuesday, chief of the district's press service Colonel Konstantin Lazutkin told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"The command post exercise takes place at facilities of a permanent-readiness motorized rifle division under command of Major General Sergei Surovikin. District commander Colonel General Alexander Baranov is supervising the event," Lazutkin said.
Participants in the exercise will spend a week at the district's training ground practicing various elements of troops' preparation for taking combat readiness credits and checking field skills of the division personnel.
"The final stage of the exercise will feature a battalion- level tactical exercise with live firing," Lazutkin said.
Chief-of-Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Anatoly Kvashnin inspected the division on the eve of the exercise, he stressed.
"The chief-of-staff praised the division's combat readiness," Lazutkin added.
