Twelve arrested in Chechen presidential guard shooting

GROZNY. Feb 3 (Interfax-AVN) - The security service of Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov has detained 12 men suspected of involvement in the shooting deaths of five members of its staff in the village of Alleroi on Sunday.

"We have detained 12 people and we are currently checking each of them. I don't want to talk about culprits, because it is still too early to make conclusions," Ramzan Kadyrov, head of the security service, told Interfax.

Kadyrov did not specify whether the men are suspected of shooting the security guards or only of organizing the attack. He would not give any additional information about the detainees, saying only that "the search for the culprits is continuing."

Kadyrov said earlier that the attackers would be caught within seven days and posted a USD200,000 reward for information leading to their capture.
