TBILISI. Feb 9 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgian and Abkhaz officials will meet in Tbilisi on Tuesday under the UN auspices to work out security guarantees in the conflict zone, acting Georgian Minister without Portfolio Malkhaz Kakabadze told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"During the Tuesday talks in Tbilisi, representatives of the conflicting parties will discuss security guarantees in the conflict zone and mechanism of non-resumption of armed confrontation," said Kakabadze, who heads the Georgian delegation to the meeting.
"Georgia is aimed at peaceful settlement, but it has repeatedly announced that it will not tolerate attempts on its territorial integrity," the acting minister noted.
"The talks will primarily address safe and decent return of refugees who had to leave their home areas during the armed conflict," he said.
According to Kakabadze, "the parties will also address a set of issues that will be submitted for discussion at the upcoming meeting in Geneva scheduled for the second half of February under the aegis of the UN Group of Friends of Georgia." The Group of Friends consists of Great Britain, Germany, Russia, the U.S. and France.
The Abkhaz delegation to the talks will be led by Foreign Minister Sergei Shamba.
