STAVROPOL. Feb 25 (Interfax-AVN) - About 30,000 border guards and their family members from the North Caucasus Regional Border Guard Directorate will participate in the Russian presidential elections, slated for March 14.
"Up to 27,000 servicemen and their family members will take part in the elections. They will cast their votes at more than 170 polling stations, with five of them situated in border guard units, deployed in Chechnya. A number of border guard units, defending the Russian-Georgian border in Ingushetia and Chechnya, will take part in the elections ahead of time," the directorate's press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
" Stavropol will host a coordination meeting of commanding officer assistants for personnel and personnel support today. The priority issue on the meeting's agenda consists in organizing the work of C2 bodies in light of upcoming presidential elections," the press-service said.
The meeting will also discuss other issues, pertaining to the day-to-day activities of border guard units.
