MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax-AVN) -- Permanent-readiness units of the Land Forces have accomplished all assigned missions during a tactical exercise with live firing at training grounds of the Moscow and North Caucasus military districts.
"Permanent-readiness units of the Land Forces (reinforced companies from the Siberian and Volga-Ural military districts) accomplished tactical missions successfully and performed live firing on an unfamiliar terrain on Thursday," Colonel General Alexander Skorodumov, chief of the Armed Forces combat training directorate, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"The exercise took place at the Alabino and Prudboi training grounds reporting to the Moscow and North Caucasus military districts respectively. It was part of the strategic command post exercise currently underway in the Russian Armed Forces," Skorodumov said.
The units, which had covered long distances by railway to arrive at the training grounds, took two days to accomplish training and combat missions on an unfamiliar terrain, he went on. "The reinforced companies were accomplishing defense missions with live firing at the Alabino and Prudboi training grounds for 24 hours," he said.
Skorodumov praised activity of a reinforced motorized rifle company representing the motorized rifle division stationed in Novosibirsk. "This company got B in tactics and firing, while other units of the Land Forces got C," he said.
"Final results of Land Forces units' activity in the framework of the strategic command post exercise will be summed up by the Land Forces Staff," Skorodumov added.
