MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Foreign Ministry confirms that seven Russian inmates have been transferred from the U.S. Guantanamo base in Cuba.
"Seven Russian citizens detained in the U.S.-led anti- terrorist campaign in Afghanistan and taken to the U.S. military base in Guantanamo, Cuba, were brought to Moscow on February 28 in line with an agreement between the Russian Prosecutor General's Office and the U.S. Department of Justice," Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Yakovenko said on Monday.
The appropriate service in the Justice Ministry will take the inmates for a preliminary investigation of the case brought against them, he said.
