MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax-AVN) - The Tekhnokompleks research and production center is studying possibilities of using special electronic goggles by the pilot of a future Russian fighter, Tekhnokompleks President Givi Janjgava said on Tuesday.
"While developing a cockpit for the future Russian fighter, Tekhnokompleks studies and tests the use of special goggles displaying target information on the monocle or visor (various variants are under consideration) when the pilot turns his head," Janjgava told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"During the transition stage, we are planning to gain some experience and obtain reliable information and assessment from pilots concerning how it is more comfortable for them to get data - from the monocle or from the windshield. The tentative plan is to equip the crew of the SU-35 experimental fighter with monocles," he said.
The center is engaged in gradual development of the cockpit makeup exhibited at the MAKS 2003 air show. "So far I can say that the cockpit will retain its original technical shape in the fighter's conceptual design," Janjgava noted.
According to him, all developments achieved while working on the SU-30MKI fighter are used in the design of the future fighter's cockpit.
"The new cockpit will have two large 15-inch displays and a wide-angle indicator on the windshield displaying TV data, which has not been used in the domestic or foreign aircraft building before," Janjgaca said.
He also said that Tekhnokompleks is engaged in designing a transitional fighter codenamed SU-37.
Tekhnokompleks develops and mass-produces data indication systems, including multifunctional LCDs, control panels and other avionics. Tekhnokompleks is engaged in implementation of contracts and orders in the framework of development of the SU- 30MKK plane for China, SU-30MKI plane for India, SU-32 multifunctional frontline bomber, MIG-29SMT fighter, KA-31, KA-32 Helix, MI-24PN Hind and MI-28N Night Hunter helicopters.
