STAVROPOL. March 5 (Interfax-AVN) - A number of checkpoints of the Vladikavkaz border guard unit have been cut off due to avalanches, the North Caucasus Regional Border Guard Directorate's press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
"At the present time special-purpose vehicles of Russian Emergencies Ministry are trying to establish a transportation route to the checkpoints," a press-service official said.
According to him, strong wind gusts (25-30 mps) damaged military bases of a number of border guard units in North Ossetia, Ingushetia, Chechnya, and Dagestan on Thursday.
"There are no casualties, but several barrack roofs were blown off, and tents were torn up. The damage inflicted is being assessed," the official said.
