New military college commissioned in Russian Space Forces

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax-AVN) - The Savitsky Radio Electronics Institute of the Space Forces in Pushkin, Moscow region, a new military college of the Russian Space Forces, has been developed from a branch of the Mozhaisky Military Space Academy, Moscow, Space Forces Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Anatoly Shishkin told Interfax-Military News Agency Thursday.

"The branch of the Mozhaisky Military Space Academy was successfully commissioned in April 2003. The expert commission approved the training programs and projected qualification of trainees under state educational standards and requirements. The branch was approved for college-level operation," he said.

According to the press service of the Space Forces, the Education Ministry has issued to the branch a new educational license for college and postgraduate training.

The approval levels were attained for all parameters: there are 60.2 percent of doctoral degrees in the faculty, the average textbook coverage is 0.62 per trainee, and the training area per full-time trainee is 18.5 square meters.

The college includes Electronic Computing and Electromechanics departments and 14 sub-faculties. It trains four specialties: airspace monitoring/missile strike warning computing, basic support of space automatic control systems, power supply of special sites, and power supply/life support of surface/subsurface missile systems.

In addition, there are 15 PhD and four DSc courses, as well as pre-college courses.
