Personnel, automobiles airdropped successfully in Russia's Kostroma region

MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax-AVN) - About 600 servicemen of the Airborne Force and automobiles were airdropped on the Budikhino landing pad in the Kostroma region on Tuesday, Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky, chief of the Air Force press service, told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The airdrop involved 12 IL-76 Candid military transport planes," Drobyshevsky said.

According to him, 586 servicemen and six GAZ-66 automobiles on platforms were airdropped.

"The landing party was dropped in the framework of preparations for the command post exercise of military transport aviation which will take place from March 22 to 26 under supervision of Air Force Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Mikhailov," the colonel said.

The exercise will involve up to 30 planes, including IL-76 Candid military transports, SU-27 Flanker fighters, SU-24 Fencer frontline bombers, SU-25 Frogfoot attack planes, and an A-50 Mainstay AWACS plane.
