KHANKALA/MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Three members of the extreme Islamic (Wahhabi) organization Khalifat have been killed in a special operation conducted jointly by the Federal Security Service (FSB) and police officers in Ingushetia.
"FSB officers, collaborating with the police, carried out a special targeted operation in Nazran to detain active members of the bandit group Abudzeita incorporated in the so-called Wahhabi jamaat Khalifat," spokesman for the regional headquarters for the antiterrorist operation in the North Caucasus Colonel Ilya Shabalkin told Interfax on Thursday.
"During attempts to detain (the rebels - Interfax), the guerillas offered armed resistance, and three of them were killed by return fire," Shabalkin said.
In particular, one of those killed is Musa Khashiyev, 26, "the emir of the Wahhabi jamaat," who received training at a camp led by the late warlord Khattab.
Khashiyev was on a federal wanted list for murdering a Sunzha district policeman in the village of Troitskaya and also for preparing terrorist attacks in Chechnya and Ingushetia, he said.
