MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's MIG aircraft building corporation is planning to develop civilian programs which envisage production of the new TU-334 short-range passenger airliner and the MIG-110 multipurpose plane, MIG Director General/Designer General Valery Toryanin said on Friday.
"We want to continue and develop all civilian programs. They include both the TU-334 and the MIG-110," Toryanin told Interfax- Military News Agency.
Work on both aircraft is underway, he said. It is only restrained by insufficient funding.
"We are working on attracting investment into civilian projects. We have asked the Moscow city government for support. There is an accord on procuring five TU-334 planes with the Atlant-Soyuz air carrier. Work on these projects will be scaled up dramatically as soon as the funding issue is settled," Toryanin said.
The TU-334 short-range passenger plane is to replace worn- out and obsolete TU-134 Crusty and TU-154B Careless planes. It will airlift up to 126 passengers for a distance of up to 3,150km depending on the modification.
The MIG-110 multipurpose aircraft has a cargo capacity of 6t, or passenger capacity of up to 48 persons. The power plant of the plane is to include two TV7-117S series 2s engines developing 2,800hp each (foreign-made engines may be fitted to export- oriented aircraft).
The MIG-110 will have a maximum take-off weight of 19t and maximum cargo capacity of 6t. The cruising speed will amount to 550kmph, and flight range to 1,680km with a payload of 4,500kg and about 4,000km with full fuel tanks. Experts estimate potential demand for such planes in Russian civil aviation at about 200 items.
