ST.PETERSBURG. March 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Vehicle electronics manufacturers are to meet in St. Petersburg on April 8-9, 2004, the Aerokosmicheskoye Oborudovanie Corporation press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Friday.
"Heads and experts of flagship vehicle and vehicle electronics manufacturers from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus are to discuss problems, pertaining to national vehicle development and introduction of new vehicle electronics, in St. Petersburg," a press-service official said.
In addition that they will discuss the strategy of developing vehicle industry in Russia and CIS member-states, as well as the issues of vehicle electronics' meeting traffic safety and environmental protection requirements and international standards, as well as introduction of electronic systems to KamAZ, MAZ, Ural and other vehicles.
According to him, the meeting will also comprise a scientific conference, devoted to introduction of electronic control and safety systems to vehicles, as well as a show of products, manufactured by participants in the conference.
The official said that the conference and the show were sponsored by the Aerokosmicheskoye Oborudovanie International Financial and Industrial Company. The show will see products, manufactured by the Ekran Enterprise (Borisov, Belarus), the Elektropribor enterprise (Tambov, Russia), Radiopribor (Kazan, Russia), Izmeritel (Smolensk, Russia), the Kamerton Design Bureau (Minsk), the Leninets Plant (St. Petersburg), Avtodizel (Yaroslavl, Russia), the Ulan-Ude Instrument-Building Industrial Association, etc.
According to the official, the meeting was caused by the introduction of new traffic safety and environmental protection requirements in Russia, which lags behind the world's developed countries with this respect.
