MINSK. March 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The accession of numerous neighboring countries to NATO has not changed the routine of the Belarussian air force and air defenses, Colonel Alexander Morfitsky, commander of the 61st fighter air base, told Interfax on Monday.
The orders and directives on daily routines have not changed. The time and distance standards remain the same, he said.
The base is supposed to do more than prevent incursions into Belarussian air space, Morfitsky said.
"We must also follow up balloons straying from neighboring countries and help planes that have gone off course," he said.
