Admiralteyskie Verfi's experience to be applied in Russian shipbuilding education

ST.PETERSBURG. March 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The experience of Admiralteyskie Verfi, a state-owned shipbuilder, will be applied in the 2004-2008 St. Petersburg shipbuilding education program, Admiralteyskiye Verfi CEO Vladimir Alexandrov told Interfax- Military News Agency Tuesday.

"St. Petersburg has always been a leader in shipbuilding education, and Admiralteyskie Verfi seeks to preserve and extend it," he said.

He said that Admiralteyskie Verfi's program was put in the basis of the St. Petersburg-approved program.

Alexandrov recalled that Admiralteyskie Verfi created a training center in 1995 with a yearly turnover of 3,500 to 4,000 specialists. Currently the center employs 30 instructors, has four computer classrooms, fiber-optic Internet connection, and video conference equipment.

Admiralteyskie Verfi takes engineer graduates from the State Maritime Technical University, with a ranch of shipbuilding technology department at the firm. The training center now hosts 70 students and pays for the education of over 350 students in the University.

Aleksandrov said that this method was aimed at providing student adaptation to real industrial environment by the graduation date.

The St. Petersburg's shipbuilding education program will cover over 11,000 junior and 2,000 senior specialists, 2,000 engineers, and higher qualification for 60 engineers.

Admiralteyskie Verfi specializes in submarines and oil tankers.
