MOSCOW. March 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The Defense Ministry board, headed by Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov, discussed arms and materiel development until 2020 on Tuesday.
"Addressing the board, Ivanov said that major arms and materiel development workstreams being developed for a period of time until 2020 were aimed at defining the Russian Armed Forces of the 21st century," the press-service said.
According to the press-service, Colonel General Alexey Moskovsky, head of the Armed Forces Materiel Directorate, and Colonel General Vasily Smirnov, head of the General Staff Mobilization Directorate, also addressed the meeting with their respective reports.
"The board noted the necessity of an integral evaluation of tasks, facing the Land Forces and the Navy, arms and materiel development priorities, as well as efficiency of state arms program control mechanisms," the press-service said.
