MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Prospects of restoring full-scale Russian-Laotian military technical cooperation were the main issue on the agenda of the Moscow meeting between Sergei Chemezov, acting director general of the Rosoboronexport state- owned arms trading company, and Laotian Defense Minister Douangchai Phichit.
"Russia and Laos have gained vast experience in military- technical cooperation. The Laotian Armed Forces are nearly 100 percent equipped with Soviet armament and military hardware supplied in the 1970s and 1980s. The Laotian army personnel have practical skills in using Soviet-made armament, including in combat conditions," the Rosoboronexport press-service reported on Wednesday.
Rosoboronexport leaders are sure that the talks with the Laotian defense minister will give a serious push to bilateral cooperation in the military-technical-sphere.
