CHITA. May 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Gas supplies have been suspended to apartments of over 7,000 servicemen families in the Siberian Military District.
"Houses, accommodating over 7,000 servicemen families, in Chita have not been supplied with gas for over a week," the Siberian Military District press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
According to the press-service, a total of 87 apartment blocks were not provided with gas due to the Siberian Military District's debt of RUB800,000 (USD27,600) under the so-called "charge spread compensation."
"At the same time, the fact that consumers do not have any debts has been hushed up," the press-service said.
According to the press-service, the Chitaoblgaz company turned the gas off on the eve of Victory Day, leaving both servicemen families, and veterans without gas for the holidays.
"The most curious thing is that there is a certain amount of money, allocated by the budget for gas payments, but the Russian Finance Ministry prohibited it from being used until a new decision was taken, while this decision has not been taken for over five months," the press-service said.
