MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Several people have been detained on suspicion of involvement in the May 9 terrorist attack in Grozny, which killed Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov, said chief of staff of the Chechen presidential security service Artur Akhmadov.
"Several people have already been detained and an investigation into the terrorist attack is in progress," Akhmadov said in an interview with Russia's Gazeta newspaper, which was published on Wednesday.
A special operation and a series of raids have been carried out in the republic's Nozhai-Yurt, Kurchaloi and Gudermes districts to track down the terrorists responsible for the explosion.
"A large number of theories emerged at the beginning, but we are trying to select the most likely ones. We are currently focusing on two or three theories. But I will not disclose further details. It is too early to do so. Work is continuing," he said.
Akhmadov did not rule out that the Victory Day terrorist attack might have involved a betrayal among the Chechen president's security service personnel.
