Ukrainian charter plane crashes in China

BAKU. May 18 (Interfax-Azerbaijan) - An IL-76 Candid cargo plane owned by Ukraine's Stairan airlines on a charter flight to Baku crashed at Urumqi international airport in China at 10:45 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

"Everyone aboard, including the crewmembers, perished," Sabir Ilyasov, deputy director of the Azerbaijani Azal airlines, told Interfax on Tuesday.

"According to our information, there were seven or eight people aboard. All of them were nationals of Ukraine and the cargo also belonged to the Ukrainian side," he said.

"The plane crashed almost immediately after takeoff. This is now being investigated," he said.
