KHANKALA. May 24 (Interfax-AVN) - In Chechnya rebels made 17 attacks on military and government facilities in a week, a source at headquarters of the federal force in the North Caucasus told Interfax-Military News Agency on Monday.
Two attacks were made on federal convoys.
"Rebel chiefs have decided to concentrate their efforts on the physical removal of leaders of the republic, heads of district and village administrations," the spokesman said.
There were eight armed clashes in Shali, Urus-Martan, Vedeno, Nozhai-Yurt and Shatoi districts and three in Grozny.
Sappers neutralized some 200 explosive devices, over 30 of them land mines.
