CHISINAU. May 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The defense ministries of Moldova and Belarus are scaling up bilateral military cooperation, the Moldovan Defense Ministry's press service said on Wednesday.
"Belarussian Defense Minister Leonid Maltsev has arrived in Chisinau for an official visit. Talks between the defense ministers of the two countries, Victor Gaiciuc and Leonid Maltsev, are scheduled for today. After the talks they will sign bilateral agreements on the order of conducting joint research and on the transfer and use of research and technical products," a press service official told Interfax-Military News Agency.
The Belarussian delegation is expected to stay in Moldova for two days, he said. On Wednesday afternoon, Maltsev will meet with Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin to discuss further cooperation in the military and military-technical spheres.
"The latter aspect will also be discussed with the Moldovan colleagues by officials of several Belarussian enterprises, who have arrived together with General Maltsev. In particular, they will visit the Topaz plant in order to study the potential and capabilities of local enterprises," the official said.
