MOSCOW. May 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian border guards meeting people entering Russia will now smile more and be polite.
An order to this effect was issued by Colonel General Vladimir Pronichev, head of the border guard service and first deputy director of the Russian Federal Security Service, Service spokesman Vadim Shibayev told Interfax on Wednesday. The order was issued due to recent complaints about the tactless treatment of people crossing the Russian state frontier by border guards.
"As individuals and transport vehicles cross the state border, special attention will be paid to treating passengers very politely and to preventing callous and rude behavior," Shibayev said.
"Unit commanders have been ordered to directly oversee the registration of complaints, statements and proposals from citizens crossing the border," he said.
