KYIV. June 4 (Interfax-AVN) - The international Rough and Ready -2004 exercises began at the Yavoriv testing range of the Ukrainian ground forces on Friday.
In addition to Ukrainian servicemen, personnel from the Emergency Situations, Transport, Interior and Health Ministries, National Guards from the United States, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Uzbekistan, and representatives of civilian organizations, the UN and NATO coordinating centers are participating.
The Ukrainian Defense Ministry press service said the exercises involve a total of 500 persons.
The scenario of the exercises implies an international search and rescue operation by military and civilian forces in the area of a large- scale earthquake.
