ST. PETERSBURG. June 16 (Interfax-AVN) - Northwestern Russian regions have allocated about RUB4m (USD137,850) from local budgets to finance the spring conscription, Colonel Boris Bizyarin, head of the conscription department of the Leningrad Military District Mobilization Directorate, told Interfax- Military News Agency on Wednesday.
"These assets have been earmarked in addition to funds, allocated by the Defense Ministry. Such additional funds facilitate organized draftee transportation to military units," Bizyarin said.
He also said that as of now Leningrad Military District commissioner's offices had fulfilled the spring conscription plan by 90%. A total of 60% of all draftees have been sent to military units.
"Remaining inductees will be sent to respective military units as soon as they graduate from colleges. Everything is conducted according to the plan without any incidents or disruptions," he noted.
He also said that the Pskov region military commissioner's office was successfully conducting the experiment, envisioning for draftees to be provided with uniforms before being sent to military units.
