Military delegations from Turkey, Myanmar arrive in Leningrad military district

ST.PETERSBURG. June 18 (Interfax-AVN) - A Myanmar military delegation led by General Tur Shwe Maung, deputy commander-in- chief of the Land Forces, arrived in St. Petersburg early on Friday, a spokesman for the Leningrad military district headquarters told Interfax-Military News Agency.

"The Myanmar military delegation will meet with Colonel General Pavel Labutin, chief-of-staff and first deputy commander of the district," Yuri Klenov, chief of the district's press service, said.

The delegation will also visit the Naval Academy and the Severnaya Verf shipyard.

Later on Friday, Labutin will meet with a Turkish military delegation led by Land Forces Commander-in-Chief Aytac Yalman, Klenov said.

The foreign guests will be taken on a tour through the city, he noted.

According to the colonel, the number of foreign military delegations' visits to the Leningrad military district has increased considerably lately, and the level of regional military cooperation has risen, too.
