Peacekeeping exercise starts in Moldova

CHISINAU. June 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Moldovan, Russian and Transdnestrian peacekeepers who are accomplishing missions in the security zone along the Dnestr River started a planned exercise near Chisinau on Friday, the unified HQ of the joint peacekeeping force told Interfax-Military News Agency.

The exercise is taking place at a bridge across the Dnestr near the Vadul-lui-Vode village, where two peacekeeping posts are located, a HQ spokesman said. Each party is represented by a quick response team. In addition, the exercise involves two simulation teams and several armored vehicles and automobiles.

According to the military, the event is aimed at checking readiness of operations teams to unblock peacekeeping posts, destroy rebel gangs, and resume normal functioning of posts.

Organizers of the exercise invited several foreign military attaches and media representatives to attend the event as observers.
