MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The crew of the International Space Station (ISS) will be wearing spacesuits all through Tuesday night, a source in the mission control center told Interfax.
"The crew will start training in the Russian-made Orlan M spacesuits at 9:50 p.m. Moscow time (1750 GMT) on Tuesday. At five minutes to midnight they will put on the spacesuits and wear them all through the night to work out the details of the upcoming spacewalk," the source said.
The crew will be working all night, so "their daily routine will change. The crew will wake up at 2:30 p.m. Moscow time (1030 GMT) so that they can rest before work," he said.
The spacewalk will begin at about 2:00 a.m. Moscow time on Friday (2200 GMT on Thursday) on and last for about six hours.
The main goal of the spacewalk is to repair a gyroscope, which provides for the orientation of the ISS. The gyroscope stopped functioning in late April.
The spacewalk has been delayed several times for various reasons. Russian and American mission control centers have finally coordinated a day for the spacewalk.
The ISS crew is made up of Gennady Padalka (Russia) and Michael Fincke (NASA).
