Georgia sentences 3 Russians to 3 months' detention

TBILISI. June 28 (Interfax-AVN) - Three Russians, who a Georgian official said were reconnoitering an area in Georgia's breakaway South Ossetia region, were sentenced by a Tbilisi court on June 26 to three months in a pretrial detention for illegally crossing the Russian-Georgian border.

A map of the area and a landmine detector were seized from Israel Bagayev, Boris Bedoyev, and Pavel Khozoyev, all residents of the Russian region of North Ossetia, Georgian investigators said.

Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Giorgi Getsadze said on June 24 that the three Russians, who were arrested by Georgian security forces that day, had been reconnoitering the area where they were spotted.
