Russia critical of U.S. demand to dismantle N. Korea's nuclear facilities

BEIJING. June 28 (Interfax-China) - The U.S. demand calling on North Korea to dismantle all its nuclear facilities, including peaceful ones, runs counter to international law, Ambassador at Large Alexander Alexeyev, head of the Russian delegation to the third round of six-nation talks on North Korea, told a news conference in Beijing.

"No one has the right to ban peaceful nuclear programs. This goes against international law," Alexeyev said, but added that North Korea's nuclear projects do require control.
