STAVROPOL. June 29 (Interfax-AVN) - The head of the North Caucasus Regional Border Guard Directorate has signed a decree on establishing a workgroup, tasked with facilitating the participation of the Grozny, Argun, and Borzoi detachments' border guards and their family members in presidential elections in Chechnya.
"Special attention is paid to providing security to the upcoming elections," the directorate's press-service told Interfax-Military News Agency on Tuesday.
"The feasibility of allowing servicemen, deployed in difficult-access terrain, or remote areas, to vote ahead of the appointed time is being looked into. If necessary, election commissions with ballot boxes will be sent to such units," the press-service said.
Military units, deployed in Chechnya, have established workgroups, tasked with facilitating the participation of servicemen in the Chechen presidential elections.
The workgroup, headed by Colonel General Nikolai Lisinsky, head of the North Caucasus Regional Border Guard Directorate, will enjoy the communications priority in the course of the preparation for and during the elections proper, the press- service emphasized.
"Military units are cooperating with local authorities in preparing for the presidential elections. Information will be disseminated in strict compliance with applicable laws. The Chechen constitution and other laws will be interpreted to voters," the press-service said.
