MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax-AVN) - Specialists of the R&D Institute of Steel gave birth to a new generation of camouflage for the Russian servicemen, having applied stealth technology, developed earlier to conceal combat vehicles from radars, the Moskovskiy Komsomolets daily reported Thursday.
According to the newspaper, the institute started developing new camouflage urged by the current situation with servicemen concealment assets.
"With nowadays' level of technologies, one can detect a man- target within five-ten kilometers even at night. At the same time, the camouflaging assets in the arsenals of even the most progressive armies are limited to a spotty cloak and special paints, which cannot prevent servicemen from being detected," the newspaper reads.
Institute specialists made up their minds to make use of the stealth technology, developed earlier to conceal aircraft, ships and other materiel from radars. "According to the developers, the new camouflaging cloaks for servicemen make them invisible for thermal imagers, radars and other observation devices. Apart from cloaks, the scientists also developed body armor and helmets, applying the same principle," the newspaper reports.
