MOSCOW. July 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian defense industry will exhibit its advanced developments at the Russian Arms Expo show in Nizhny Tagil from Tuesday to Saturday, the press service of the Rosoboronexport state-owned arms trader reported.
"Fighting capabilities of more than two dozen models of the newest and retrofitted military hardware will be shown at the exhibition," the report reads.
Among the hardware to be exhibited are the T-90S, Т-80UK and Т-72 tanks and combat engineer vehicles on their base, the retrofitted BTR-60PB and BTR-70 armored personnel carriers, the retrofitted MSTA-S 152-mm and 155-mm self-propelled howitzer, the Nona-SVK self-propelled 120-mm cannon, and the retrofitted BRDM-2 combat reconnaissance patrol vehicle.
Attention of foreign customers will undoubtedly be attracted by the most effective models of weapons and military equipment, including the combat tank-support vehicle (BMPT) based on Т-72 chassis, upgraded BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle, and DT-30PM amphibious crawler-transporter. Also to be exhibited are the 155- mm KM-1 Krasnopol guided weapons complex, RBU-6000 mortar, Shturm- V high-precision guided weapons complex with the upgraded Ataka-V missile for MI-24/MI-35 Hind and MI-28N Havoc helicopters, and 30- mm AGS-17 automatic antipersonnel grenade launcher. The small- arms section will feature the 7.62-mm 6P41 Pecheneg machine gun; 12.7-mm 6P50 machine gun; 7.62-mm modernized Kalashnikov machine gun on Stepanov mounting, Kalashnikov АК series assault rifles, and 9-mm АЕК-919К Kashtan submachine-gun.
Together with the Uralvagonzavod Production Association, Rosoboronexport will present to the participants of the exhibition a composite retrofitting program for the T-72, one of the most widespread tanks in the world.
The upgraded Т-72 tank is armed with a new 125-mm cannon of greater accuracy, guided missiles, and an enclosed heavy-caliber antiaircraft machine gun. The weapons power is further increased by a hi-tech fire control system, which includes a multi-pathing sight (optical and thermal channels, a rocket control channel and a built-in laser range finder), the electronic digital ballistic calculator with a complete set of shooting environment detector elements, and the newest stabilizer of tank weapons of greater accuracy.
A know-how used in retrofitting of a Т-72 tank - the new built-in dynamic protection armor, electromagnetic protection system against mines with magnetometric detonators, special system for laying aerosol screens, new satellite navigating system. As a whole, the retrofitted machine surpasses the base model by 1.7-2 times in fighting efficiency and many of its parameters approach those of Т-90S.
Rosoboronexport is competing for a contract on upgrading the fire control system (FCS) of T-72 fleet, operational in the Indian Land Forces. The enterprise offers FCS with the Sosna-U multi-pathing sight. Unlike solutions offered by other foreign participants of the tender, the Russian system has a number of technological innovations, in particular: a channel for guided missile shooting, two-plane view stabilization system, tank commander's backup system of firing the primary armament.
Russian defense industry also offers for export a variety of dual application products and technologies: a lumber tractor equipped with a 1-tonne manipulator, created on the chassis of a Tor-М1 surface-to-air missile system transporter loader; UТ-60 all-purpose tractor; Gnom forest mini-tractor; original aircraft fueler; helicopter-mounted gyro-stabilized electro-optical system for monitoring of oil and gas pipelines; geodetic and medical equipment.
