MOSCOW. July 7 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry has called Georgia's seizure of Russian military property in South Ossetia a provocation.
"Georgia's moves cannot be qualified as anything but a provocation," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Vyacheslav Sedov told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.
He said that the village of Kurta, where a convoy carrying military property was seized, is in a security zone, where all operations by law-enforcement agencies must be agreed on with the command of the Mixed Peacekeeping Force, the Mixed Control Commission and the joint military command.
"However, neither the peacekeeping command nor any other organization had been informed about the Georgian side's plans and none of them were present at the scene of the incident," Sedov said.
He said that talks will be continued with Georgian officials on how to settle the issue.
