MIG planning to step up aircraft mass production in Moscow, Lukhovitsy, Nizhny Novgorod

MOSCOW. July 21 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian MIG Aircraft- Building Corporation will step up aircraft mass production at its aircraft plants in Moscow, Lukhovitsy, and Nizhny Novgorod, MIG Director General Valery Toryanin told Interfax-Military News Agency on Wednesday.

"Mass production will be stepped up. Given a potential contract for 200 MIG-29 Fulcrum aircraft, our production facilities in Moscow, Lukhovitsy, and Nizny Novgorod will be quite busy," Toryanin said.

He also said that MIG was boosting export contracts, envisioning deliveries of MIG-29 fighters to foreign customers. "At the present time the Moscow assembly workshops works in two shifts, while that in Lukhovitsy in three shifts," Toryanin said.

He noted that by the turn of the year MIG planned to deliver up to 36 aircraft to foreign customers, with 20 of them new, and the rest of them overhauled and modernized.

Toryanin also said that MIG had recently received a down payment for the Indian contract on delivering MIG-29K shipborne fighters. "We have already started fulfilling this contract, and we have yet another option for 30 aircraft of this type," Toryanin said.

He noted that by the turn of the year MIG planned to sign two to three contracts on exporting MIG-29s. Toryanin said that the aircraft had generated interest of Southeast Asian, African, and Latin America states.

In addition to that, according to him, MIG has started negotiations with a foreign country on signing a contract, envisioning deliveries of the MIG-AT trainer. "The contract may envision several dozen aircraft," he said.

Toryanin noted that MIG planned to participate in air shows to be held in Zhuhai, China, and Bangalore, India. "These regions demonstrate great interest in our products," Toryanin said.
