FARNBOROUGH. July 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The Saturn research and production association and the Ilyushin aircraft corporation have signed an agreement on installing the D-30KP engine in IL- family aircraft.
The agreement was signed at the Farnborough International 2004 air show in Great Britain.
Saturn Director General Yury Lastochkin told Interfax- Military News Agency that the agreement regulates the two companies' relations in joint engine replacement on IL-76 Candid planes.
In addition, the document provides a possibility for installing the D-30KP Burlak engine in future planes of the IL family, including the SVTS (IL-214) medium military transport plane and the BSMS (MS-21) short-range passenger plane.
In particular, the parties undertook to consider the possibility of and make a decision on the Burlak engine installation in the SVTS and BSMS.
The agreement was signed by Lastochkin and Ilyushin Director General Viktor Livanov in the interests of implementing the Russian Transportation Ministry's federal purpose-oriented program of Russian transport network upgrade for 2002-2010.
