MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov signed a decree adopting the specialized BAZ-6909 and BAZ-6910 wheeled chassis for service with the Armed Forces, an official of the governmental press service told Interfax- Military News Agency Tuesday.
Under the decree, the Russian Defense Ministry and the Russian Ministry of industry and energy are entitled to organize mass-production of the chassis.
According to the official, the specialized wheeled chassis under consideration are designed to mount weapons, materiel, special systems and cabins to be operated on all types of roads and in any terrain.
Primary specs of BAZ-6909/BAZ-6910 are as follows: driving wheels 8x8/8x/8; load carrying capacity, tons - 18/17; operating weight, tons - 35/36; engine - diesel, multi-fuel (gas-turbine); engine power, kW (hp) - 345 (470)/368 (500); max speed, km/h - 80/80; fording depth, meters - 1.4/1.4; range with organic fuel, km - 1,000/1,000.
Systems mounted on the BAZ-6909/BAZ-6910 chassis can be airlifted by the IL-76 Candid, AN-22 Cock and AN-124 Condor.
