SUKHUMI. Aug 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Georgia has been taking steps recently that are disrupting negotiations on the settlement of the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict, the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia's presidential aide, Asamur Taniya, told Interfax on Wednesday
He was commenting on Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's statement that all ships entering the Sukhumi port without the permission of the central authorities will be sunk.
Taniya said the Georgian authorities' position violates the agreement signed in Moscow, under which all sides were obliged to cease fire on land, sea and in the air.
Sukhumi is satisfied with the Russian Foreign Ministry's reaction to the issue. They hope Russia will see that the Georgian authorities actions are discussed in all international organizations involved in the settling the Georgian-Abkhaz conflict.
A statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry contains a warning that Tbilisi abstain from actions that could harm Russian citizens.
"Russia is warning Tbilisi that all attempts to inflict harm on Russia citizens, or, worse still, to encroach on their lives, will be duly rebuffed," said the Foreign Ministry's statement.
