ST. PETERSBURG. Aug 5 (Interfax-AVN) - Twenty-four trespassers and 210 other border regime offenders were detained in July by border guards of the Northwestern Regional Border Guard Directorate of the Federal Security Service (NWBGD).
"Border guards detained 24 trespassers and 210 border regime offenders in July. They collected 57,000 Russian rubles ($1,950) of fines from the offenders," a source in the NWBGD told Interfax- Military News Agency Thursday.
According to him, the border guards combined efforts with customs officers to detain 60,000 Russian rubles ($2,050) worth of smuggled goods.
International traffic through the border in July 2004 exceeded 1,610,000 people and 915,000 vehicles.
