Ukrainian naval ship visits Bulgaria

KYIV. Aug 6 (Interfax-AVN) - The Konstantin Olshansky large amphibious ship will stay at berth in Varna, Bulgaria, under the flag of the Ukrainian Navy Commander from Friday till Sunday, an official for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry told Interfax- Military News Agency Friday.

"Rear Admiral Ihor Knyaz, Ukrainian Navy Commander, is on a visit in Bulgaria on an invitation of the Bulgarian Navy leadership," the spokesman said.

He added that Knyaz, Ukrainian Navy officers, ship crew and Ukrainian Navy veterans will participate in the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Bulgarian fleet.

He also said that on the eve of the visit Knyaz noted that the first official visit of the Ukrainian naval ship to Bulgaria under the flag of the Ukrainian Navy Commander opens the new era in the history of the two fleets.

The spokesman added that the ship also held some training during the voyage to Bulgaria.
