MOSCOW. Aug 6 (Interfax-AVN) - Border guards of the self- proclaimed republic of Abkhazia are going to take under control the 80-km long border with Georgia along the Inguri river, Sukhumi says.
"There are border guard detachments there, but we keep on training our forces to take the whole perimeter of the border under control," Abkhaz Vice President Valery Arshba told Interfax- Military News Agency over the telephone.
According to him, the process will go stage by stage, but it is difficult to say when it is over.
"It depends on the technical and logistics support," he said.
He also said "Tbilisi's aggressive statements against Abkhazia make us think of better security, including at the Inguri".
He added that Abkhaz naval ships and coast guard artillery already control the sea water area, thus ensuring normal conditions for tourists.
"We improved security, and the situation is stable now," he said.
Georgian leadership voiced the intention to attack unauthorized cargo and passenger vessels heading for Abkhazia.
