TSKHINVALI. Aug 16 (Interfax-AVN) - The command of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone has said that the concentration of personnel and military hardware in the zone continues to increase.
"The commander of a Russian peacekeeping unit has reported to forces commander Major General Svyatoslav Nabzdorov that seven trucks with Georgian military personnel headed towards Eredvi and nearby hills at 2:45 p.m. Moscow time (1045 GMT) on Monday. One of the trucks was loaded with ammunition," Nikolai Baranov, representative of the Russian Defense Ministry's press service in the peacekeeping headquarters, told Interfax-Military News Agency.
"In addition to these trucks, the Russian peacekeeping unit commander reported of the passage of six IFVs, which will also be stationed in the vicinity of Eredvi, but a bit higher on the slopes," Baranov said.
Nabzdorov checked the functioning of two peacekeeping units on Monday. The units, one Russian and the other Georgian, are stationed in the vicinity of Eredvi, Baranov noted.
